From early 2026 SAP is introducing a new practical, performance-based exam model. This isn’t just a cosmetic update – it’s a fundamental shift in how skills are assessed and how professionals demonstrate real competency in SAP technologies.
This is the reason why some SAP Certification exams are not available for scheduling at the moment. Registration will reopen once the new exam versions are released.
What’s changing – and what it means in practice:
Traditional multiple-choice tests are being replaced with practical, hands-on exams available in two formats:
– task-based exams – candidates perform practical, job-relevant tasks in an SAP environment.
– scenario-based exams – candidates interact with an AI examiner, responding to questions based on a realistic business scenario, followed by a structured cross-examination.
In scenario-based exams, candidates can choose between interacting with AI (where the evaluation is available within 15 minutes) or recording their answer (with results delivered within up to 10 days).
The new exams follow an open-book model. Candidates may use official SAP documentation and AI-enabled tools such as SAP Joule or ChatGPT.
SAP certifications will now validate not just knowledge, but the ability to apply skills in realistic business scenarios. This shift makes communication skills just as important as technical knowledge.
